When I was a kid in the 1950/60s and lived in Forest Gate a trip to Ilford to see my uncle was like a day out in the countryside. Ha Ha.

1969/71 worked part time in the Greyhound I was shift work down the docks but knew the manager in the Greyhound and could work when I liked !
Absolute brilliant couple of years and managed not to get an std.
Also did the odd shift in the Kings !

Life was good.

Born and bred in Ilford. Ingelby Road, just down from St Clements church.
Worse than Ilford? Barking, Dagenham and Romford.
Swept everywhere in the area. Most dog shit in the streets? Woodford: viscous smelly stuff and lots of white pooh
Cleanest streets: off South Park drive.
Best Cafe's? Ilford lane about 1/2 way to Barking

How does one position themselves to shit on top of bodgers?

Hasn't the alien invasion already started ?

I suppose Stratford regeneration has started . . surely was on an even footing of rough , shithouse location ?

Which poses the question , where is worse than Ilford . . . .?

Re: Ilford . for anyone born there went out there or met their other half there
I wouldn't shit on Ilford if in some future scenario it needed a big shit to land on the top of bodgers to stop an alien invasion that targeted only ilford high street and I was the only person left to shit in the world

I'd rather be in Stratford. In the king Eddie.

The Palais and Room at the Top were my part of my hangout circuit when I was young, free and single.

I used to have a 'Romford - island in the sun' t-shirt with a map of the 'circuit' on it. Loved that t-shirt.

Born and raised there but moved south of the river about 13 years ago and would never go back. Parents finally left there a few years back after my nan died and I've not been back since. Shithole.
